30 Verimensis: Signy Tursten, daughter of Orsin and Signovar Tursten, is born into the Smith Caste in Orzammar. Her name, parentage, and caste are entered into the Memories.
King Endrin Aeducan returns to the Stone, and political strife breaks out in Orzammar. Besides noticing some of the brawls in the Commons, five-year-old Signy is pleasantly oblivious. Much of her family agrees with the traditionalist Harrowmont camp, although not loudly enough to impact business. Signy attends the Grand Proving in the Memory of King Endrin, spends her time in the stands sitting on her father's shoulders, but falls asleep and misses the final match between the Warden and Piyotin Aeducan.
She would have mostly missed the fact that there was even a Blight on the surface, were it not for her mother putting in a great deal of overtime to help supply the forces that the new King sent to the surface.
During the Blight, Signy's third cousin Dagna runs away from home; unbeknownst to her family, she had enlisted the Warden's help to get permission to study at the Circle Tower at Kinloch Hold; she begins studying magic there from an academic perspective. Her family promptly ceases speaking of her. And Signy's cousin Janar begins complaining that Grey Wardens are popping out of the floors in his shop—this is never proven, but he does enlist the family in patching a strange hole in his store, which leads to a suspicious subterranean area…
Wintersend: Signy officially begins studying under her mother's tutelage as a smith apprentice.
Late Nubulis: Dagna returns to Orzammar and showcases her artificially induced ability to do magic. Her family is initially terrified. Eluviesta: When Dagna successfully gives another dwarf (a Warrior Caste volunteer, Jerrick) magical powers as well, the Assembly votes her a Paragon of Orzammar. Her extended family starts talking to her again. Enthusiastically. Signy's name and caste are amended in the Memories: she is now Signy Dagna of the Noble Caste. Matrinalis: Signy and her parents move into Dagna's new estate.
12 Umbralis: Pressured by her family, Paragon Dagna agrees to pick a member of her family to administer her Lyrium Treatment to. Presented with six candidates, she choses Signy. 14-16 Umbralis: Signy undergoes Dagna's process, becoming a mage. 17 Umbralis: Her new status is entered into the Memories. Cassus: Now able to access the Fade, Signy begins to get used to the experience of dreaming†. Late in the Year: While practicing her new powers in a rented space in the Commons, Signy and the other mages are spied upon by a curious Falina Bjyr.
Signy dances with Rhocanth Garal at a party thrown by House Helmi.
Nubulis: Vidar Aeducan, one of the Nobles that Dagna made into a mage, becomes an Abomination; nobody is sure of the cause or his motivations prior to his transformation, but, possessed by a Rage demon, he kills thirty members of the Noble and Warrior Castes, including Lord Vardesion Garal, before he is overcome. Nubulis: All of the mages in Orzammar who are not members of the noble caste are arrested. Nubulis: Paragon Dagna, Signy, and three other mages who are of noble caste, are placed under house arrest in their homes†, following a vote during a late night session of the Assembly.
Early Eluviesta: Legal proceedings take place which result in the successive exile of all of Dagna's apprentices. Second Week of Eluviesta: Signy herself is one of the last to be declared casteless and anathema. Her name is stricken from the Memories. Second Week of Eluviesta: Signy is sent to Dust Town†; she arrives to find a slum about to tear itself apart, and is just in time to overhear Belbere Bjyr's offer to the now-Castleless Mages. When the fighting begins, a terrified Signy flees to the surface. Third Week of Eluviesta: On the surface, Signy reluctantly hires the mercenary warrior Imenry Barras† to protect her on her way to wherever she is going. That evening†, she meets Cormac Murrough and Falina Bjyr, and encounters Rhocanth Garal along with a troupe of the Legion of the Dead commanded by Sergeant Lythe of Gethon and including Nivak Aldurral. Signy is recruited by Warden-Commander Alistair, along with Rhocanth and Falina, and begins traveling from the Frostback Mountains towards Amaranthine. Fourth Week of Eluviesta: In Redcliffe, Signy and Rhocanth go for a walk to see the town†. Fourth Week of Eluviesta: Along the way, she spends a great deal of time questioning Imenry about the surface world†; they bond over this.
