entering battle quotes ☇ "Duck and cover!" ☇ "I'm really in an earthquakey mood, so, hold on to something!" ☇ "Aw, these guys again?" ☇ "Okay, take a deep breath, … and … Go!"
finishing battle quotes ☇ "Okay, okay, all in one piece, right?" ☇ "Did you see that? We're awesome!" ☇ "I - uh - uh oh - need to sit down - spinny…" ☇ "Ew, burning darkspawn. That's never a nice smell."
preferred gifts ☇ Ruby Bracelet, a small bracelet, probably Dwarven-made, with rubies embedded around the outside ☇ Blue Orleasian Comb, a lacquer comb used in the elaborate hairstyles of noble ladies of Orlais. ☇ Silk Scarf, fine silk, printed with a geometric design ☇ String of Beads, a string of brightly colored blown glass beads ☇ [PLOT] Deshyr's Staff, once owned by a deshyr from a long-gone House of Orzammar; the family inherited or stole it from a mage countless generations ago. ☇ [PLOT] A Cute(?) Nug, which signy will promptly roast and eat.
[Slightly contrary to video game logic, giving Signy any weapons forged by her mother is neither a very high-approval nor a plot gift; she'll be pleased, but will more likely make comments along the lines of 'oh, I remember when she made this', or 'This is valued at a sovereign and twenty silvers, but we can probably haggle it up to two—let's go see a merchant!']
ambient phrases ☇ [ostagar] "I heard dwarves built this place — so why did we build it so tall?" ☇☇ [tower of ishal] "If we climb much higher we're going to get stuck in the clouds." ☇ [lothering] "Just look at all this open sky." ☇ [denerim] "I hear they have a market here. Can we go to the market? I want to see the market." ☇☇ [gnawed noble] "Do you think they have ale here? No, I meant real ale, not the watery stuff you pass off as a drink up here." ☇☇ [royal palace] "Oh this is just gorgeous, look at that tapestry, look at the lights, the…" ☇ [circle tower] "So this is sort of like the mage district, right?" ☇ [redcliffe] "Uh. We aren't going to fall into the lake, are we?" ☇ [brecilian forest/dalish camp] "Ancestors, look at the size of these things. You call them trees? They look like mountains." ☇ [orzammar] "Uh, maybe I shouldn't... or we shouldn't... Y'know." ☇☇ [the commons] "Oh, it feels good to be back. I used to play hide-and-go-seek in that vendor's stall—oh, he'd get so furious—oh, uh, hello, Master Barton. Didn't see you there." ☇☇ [the diamond district] "Do you think the--the Paragon might be here? Is she taking visitors?" ☇☇ [dust town] "I'd watch my purse. And my back. And probably my front, if I were you." ☇☇ [the deep roads] "I've never been to any of the old thaigs, this is just thrilling to think about all the—oh ancestors what is that." ☇ [haven] "Cr-ee-py." ☇ [korcari wilds] "I'd never before been to a place where the earth went squish when you stepped on it. Well, now I have." ☇ [soldier's peak] "This place feels like the—oh crap." ☇ [vigil's keep] "*yawn* okay, I think I'm going to go take a nap."
[she's learned her letters, and had practice, but that doesn't mean that her penmanship isn't something of a scrawl; for a child of the smith caste, reading and writing was about orders, instructions, and shipment manifests, not anything educational or esoteric.]
asking favors [BELOW 25 APPROVAL] ".... uh?" [BELOW 25 APPROVAL] "I-I'm not so sure about..." [BELOW 25 APPROVAL] "I don't know why I listen." [BELOW 25 APPROVAL] "I'm not the Paragon of Running and Fetching, you know." [BELOW 25 APPROVAL] "Down here. Down here! Ugh. Tall folk." [25+ APPROVAL] "Wait. Are you asking me?" [25+ APPROVAL] "I mean, it's not exactly out of my way or anything." [25+ APPROVAL] "Maybe I should have just stayed underground." [25+ APPROVAL] "Wait, what?" [25+ APPROVAL] "O-okay, I guess..." [50+ APPROVAL] "That doesn't sound too bad." [50+ APPROVAL] "Only if you're helping." [50+ APPROVAL] "Alright." [75+ APPROVAL] "You got it, salrocca." [75+ APPROVAL] "You need that fixed? It looked kind of broken." [75+ APPROVAL] "Hey! *giggle*" [90+ APPROVAL] "I'm here to help." [90+ APPROVAL] "Whatever you need." [90+ APPROVAL] "I've got time for you, for sure." [ROMANCE-ABLE] "*a very dreamy sigh.*" [ROMANCE-ABLE] "You're cute when you want something." [LOVE] "Anything you ask me for." [LOVE] "I think I know what they mean by 'dream' now." [LOVE] "You're like lyri-- wow, that was almost really sappy."
racy tent invitations ☇ "I... I, uh," cue furious blushing. ☇ More furious blushing and stammering. Wordsoup. ☇ "We're — wait — is that what I think you're—" ☇ "You know what? I think I'd really like that."
saucy tent rejections ☇ laughter. "Oh. Wait. Was that not a joke?" ☇ "You? And me? And. What." ☇ Signy flees the scene.
appearance ☇ Has long, loosely curled pale blond hair; frequently pins the top layer at the back of her head with a pretty comb or pin, leaving the rest loose. This may be a bad and impractical habit for a Grey Warden, but she has grown very fond of the long, pretty hair she started growing when she was sixteen and refuses to give it up. ☇ She's pale, with exceedingly light blond eyebrows; her face barely has any color. ☇ A little on the short side of average for female dwarves; probably about 4'3" if we're guessing by rhocanth's height chart. ☇ Was previously accustomed to wearing fine things, but has left them all behind in Orzammar, save for the dress that Imenry made her sell she bartered in Gherlen's Pass; this has had the unintended side effect of introducing Signy to pants, and she's slowly becoming a fan.
pack ☇ At the moment, very, very little. ☇ In fact, she's thinking about selling the bag so she can pay Imenry those four sovereigns.
on winning approval ☇ Have patience. Signy takes a bit of time to warm up to most people—especially those talk folks—simply by virtue of being nervous and easily frightened. Her comfort level is usually in direct proportion of the number of new/unfamiliar people in any given gathering. Left to her own devices, or very gently encouraged, however, she begins to build comfort and trust with strangers—but pushing her too hard is more likely to send her scampering for her room or tent than to yield any positive result. ☇ Ask about Dagna. Let her answer questions about Dagna. Let her go on Dagna Dagna Dagna tangents. Feign or genuinely have interest. The Paragon was a cornerstone of Signy's life that she's not entirely ready to let go of, and a woman that Signy deeply admires, hero worships, and quite possibly feels more strongly about that she realizes. ☇ Get down with the capitalism. No, really. Raised in the heart of what she, at least, considers the most thriving market in all of Thedas, above or below ground, she really does believe in the principles of trade and industry. Innovation is important; bargaining is important; things like trade secrets, experimentation, healthy competition, and pride in your product (even if your product happens to be killing darkspawn and not, say, daggers or lyrium) are important.
on romantic endeavors ☇ Because of a fairly reclusive childhood, and the fact that she's spent the last two years (probably the height of her youth) with an intense focus on being the best damn apprentice she can be, Signy is almost completely inexperienced as far as either romance or sex go. ☇ That doesn't mean she doesn't know what's going on—the family members closest to her in age are two male cousins, Corbin and Dervo, and since they frequently took it upon themselves to hang out with her in order to keep their cousin from being 'completely and utterly boring', and hardly watched their level of discourse around her, Signy is inexperienced but absolutely not naive. She treats sex frankly, as a conceptual matter; rutting is a thing that people do, why are you surprised? As a personal matter, she's more easily flustered. ☇ Being easily flustered, and patient rather than impulsive, she's not going to be asking for kisses or visits in her tent. Not unless you hit 100 approval—maybe not even then. ☇ Romance isn't all that hard to unlock, given patience and persistence. It's just a bit slow. ☇ Anyone romancing Signy would encounter one odd facet of dwarven culture that she personally buys into: she wouldn't particularly expect or require monogamy. After all, not all dwarves keep multiple wives or concubines, but the higher the caste, the more common the practice, and Signy has been socialized to find it completely normal. ☇ There would also be the problem (problem? let's call it a hurdle) of her hero worship and maybe-adorable-starry-eyed-puppy-love for Dagna.
equipable items ☇STAFF: Currently, none. ☇ OLD STAFF: Shaperate's Blessing: A gift from the Shaperate to Paragon Dagna, and passed down from the Paragon to one of her brightest students. Signy took it with her into Dust Town when she was initially exiled, but in the chaos of Belbere's rebellion against the Carta, and her escape from him, she lost it.
☇ ARMOR: Noble Clothing: Bought in Amaranthine to replace the fine Dwarven garments she sold at Gherlen's Pass. ☇ GLOVES: Ornate Leather Gloves: She simply could not resist the beautiful designs on the leather of these gloves. ☇ BOOTS: Winter Boots: Another purchase from Amaranthine—Signy was looking for warm, fur-lined boots, having experienced some of the chill of the mountains and Southern Ferelden already. These, soft and padded for long hours of walking, appealed to her.
☇ AMULET: Warden's Oath: Given to Signy after her Joining, she wears it on a long chain around her neck, and so far seems to strive to keep it unobtrusive, if not hidden. ☇ BELT: Dwarven Smith's Belt: Signy has had this belt since she was officially made an Apprentice Smith; inside, she keeps tools, flint, bits of herbs and wire and anything else that strikes her fancy. ☇ RING: Spiral Band: A gift, from an admirer in Orzammar; Signy was scared of the poor boy even after he gave her this fine work of craftsmanship. ☇ RING: --
